What is MBTI, and how can it enhance your business performance?
In simple terms, Myers Briggs is a tool that helps people to understand their preferred personality types.
There are 4 preference pairs and 16 type in total. The theory was originally devised by Carl Yung and further developed my Catherine Briggs and Isabelle Myers, who turned the theory into language that can be understood by all and can be used to enhance business performance in a number of ways.
The area’s that we concentrate on are as follows :
- How do you get your energy – is this from the outer world (Extraversion) or your inner world (Introversion)
- How do you take in information – is this via factual from what you see (Sensing) or do you prefer to interpret and add meaning (Intuition)
- How do you make decisions – do you prefer to look at logic and consistency (Thinking) or first look at the people and special circumstances (Feeling)
- How do you deal with the outside world – do you prefer to get things decided (Judging) or do you prefer to stay open to new information and options (Perceiving)
The great thing about this tool is that there is no right or wrong, each preference has strengths and ideally if we understand others that we work with you will be able to get much more out of our work.
Predominantly MBTI is used in teams however, it can also be very useful to businesses. Type can be introduced to businesses to support many functions and situations including: managing others, development of leadership skills, conflict resolution, executive coaching, change management, and other more customised needs.
If you would like to no more about MBTI and wonder whether you could use such a tool in your business, please get in touch, we would really love to work with you.
