…with my partner Craig and my family, I love walking on the beach especially Seahouses and Bamburgh, Boogie Bounce is a new found hobby of mine (trampoline class) and red wine definitely plays a part in my social life!!
What was your first job?
YT in the HR Department at North Eastern Co-op back in 1995
How did you spend your first wage?
It was £39.50 per week and I saved it to go to Tenerife with friends 6 months after I started, I don’t know how my Mum allowed me to travel alone, as I was only 16 years old.
Who has inspired you?
A number of HR & Business professionals along my career for very different reasons, some for their leadership and confidence, others for genuinely putting people first and others just because of their life stories and successes.
What three things do you need to be successful in business?
Cash Flow, Relationships & Passion.
How do you define success?
I used to define success by salary but now I define it by personal fulfilment, whether that’s work life balance, doing something you love, achievements or just being happy.
What is the biggest mistake you ever made in business?
Trying to juggle too many balls…….eventually one falls!!
What is your proudest moment?
Obtaining my first consultancy piece of work with North East HR Limited, I managed to get this before I had even officially launched!
What parts of your job do you find most challenging?
Business Development as it’s a new area for me.
What do colleagues say is your best quality?
My personality and ability to deal with people at any level with the same respect.
How do you motivate others?
This is definitely a strength, I really enjoy helping people to see their potential and encouraging them to grow and develop.
How do you handle criticism?
In my work, I handle this well as I always want to improve, at home if its personal……maybe I’m a little defensive!
Would you rather be liked or respected?
This is a hard one but I think respected.
What’s your favourite tipple?
Red Wine and it’s the devil believe me!
